Canmore is a really special place in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. You might know it for hosting some of the Nordic events in the 1988 Winter Olympics but trust me there’s so much more to this mountain town than its Olympic past.

Winter turns Canmore into a snowy wonderland. Downhill and cross country skiing at nearby resorts including Nakiska which by the way is another 88 Olympic legacy. You can skate on frozen ponds, try your hand at ice fishing and just enjoy the crisp mountain air. When summer rolls around the landscape transforms into a hiker and mountain biker’s paradise. Trails wind through stunning scenery and the views are just…wow! And if that’s not enough there are world class golf courses, great birdwatching and rivers full of fish. And those mountains? The Three Sisters are iconic. they inspire you to get out there and live an active, fulfilling life.
Canmore is also really smart about its growth.
They have a growth management strategy in place that aims to keep things sustainable, limiting growth to about 6% per year. It’s all about balancing development with preserving Canmore’s unique character and protecting the natural environment. They want to make sure that everyone, now and in the future, gets to experience the magic of Canmore. It’s a real commitment to keeping this mountain town a special place.
