What is the RLP Shelter Foundation?
Since its founding in 1998, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has proudly grown to become the largest public foundation in Canada dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and Intimate Partner Violence prevention. In June 2025, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation released its first-ever Impact Report, a powerful reflection on its mission to end domestic violence and support women’s shelters across Canada. As the largest public foundation in the country dedicated exclusively to this cause, the report highlights both the urgency of the issue and the tangible difference being made.
Key Highlights:
- Addressing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV): The report opens with a sobering look at the state of IPV in Canada, underscoring why the Foundation’s work is more critical than ever.
- Fundraising Success: Thanks to the generosity of Royal LePage agents, brokers, staff, and supporters, the Foundation has raised over $51 million since its inception in 1998. Every dollar goes directly to shelters and prevention programs.
- Impact on Lives: The report shares stories and statistics showing how donations have helped more than 50,000 women and children annually find safety, support, and hope.
- Looking Ahead: The Foundation outlines its vision for the next five years, with a continued focus on education, prevention, and expanding support for shelters nationwide.

- We have raised over $52 Million to support over 200 local women’s shelters and national partners.
- 44% of women and girls who have been in an intimate partner relationship have reported experiencing some form of physical, psychological or sexual abuse.
- Every year in Canada, an estimated 360,000 children witness family violence.
- On any given day in Canada, 3,000 women and 2,500 children are living in an emergency shelter to escape family violence.
- In 2024, 187 women and girls were killed by violence. That is one death every 5 days.
